Swollen and/or Painful Belly (Coelom)

It may not always be easy to tell if your birds have a swollen belly, particularly if they have normally fluffed our feathers or have put on a little extra weight.  However, if your bird seems reluctant to move and has a penguin-like stance, this could mean they are carrying around extra fluid, a mass, or eggs inside their abdomen (also called a coloem).  In this section, we will cover the common causes and how to troubleshoot them.
